Build Your Bedside Drawer

Build Your Bedside Drawer

Have you ever been right in the middle of a moment and realized the one thing you need is approximately three rooms away? Suddenly somebody is digging through a bathroom cabinet, checking a drawer, or wandering around the house trying to remember where you put that bottle you KNOW you bought.

Nothing says romance quite like, "Hang on, I think it's under the sink." That's why I'm a big fan of the bedside drawer.

Not the drawer where random charging cords, old receipts, and three pens that don't work go to die. I'm talking about a little stash of things you actually use that can make intimacy easier, more comfortable, and a whole lot less interrupted. You don't need to fill it with everything you own, either. A few well-chosen essentials are plenty.

Here's where I'd start:
1) A lubricant you already know you like. Comfort is always worth keeping within reach, and nobody wants to go searching for lube once things are already getting interesting.

2) One easy favorite. Think of a small vibrator or another toy you already enjoy. This isn't the place for something that requires an instruction manual and 45 minutes of setup.

3) Something for cleanup. Keep toy cleaner, wipes, or whatever you normally use nearby, so cleanup doesn't become tomorrow's problem.

4) One little extra. Massage oil, body lotion, a blindfold, or something playful that can turn an ordinary night into, "Well... since it's right here."

And here's the part people forget…periodically clean out the drawer. Check expiration dates, charge anything rechargeable, clean your toys properly, replace products that are getting old, and get rid of the things you never actually reach for.

Your bedside drawer doesn't need to look like a showroom. It should make your life easier. Because sometimes better intimacy isn't about adding something new or doing something wildly different. It's simply removing the tiny inconveniences that interrupt the moment.

Keep the things you love nearby, make them easy to grab, and let the drawer handle the rest.
